With the recent release of the New Defender, I was lucky enough to be invited on a trail ride with one of the demo vehicles from Land Rover Denver. They had already done a little outfitting of this one with a 2” air suspension lift and larger 275/60R20 BFG AT tires. We met at the Chinaman Gulch trailhead just outside Buena Vista Colorado Sunday morning. It was a cool dry morning following a pretty good rain the night before which really cut down on the dust on the trail and offered incredibly clear views of the surrounding sky and mountains. We like to give back where we can, and support great local causes and non-profits. We have donated not only in dollars, but in our own time volunteering to help out when possible. Arapahoe Search & Rescue, The Arapahoe Rescue Patrol is a search and rescue team based in Arapahoe County, Colorado. Composed entirely of young adults currently in high school, the members of the Patrol have provided “free search, rescue, and emergency services for the citizens of Colorado’s front range and throughout all of Colorado since 1957.” Set Them Free, Inc. is a non-profit fund raising organization created for the purpose of funding the rescue and rehabilitation of victims of human trafficking. I’ve been wanting to put together an off-road trip for quite a while, and it finally came together with a little push from a long time customer. Thanks Dirk! Ok, I’m going to back up a second and explain why the name “Rover Riders” in the title. The Rover Riders were a club and group of Land Rover off-road enthusiasts that was started many years ago. That club was absorbed by the Solihull Society, the other and still current Land Rover club in Colorado, and the name was lost. I thought the name too cool to let go, and while I have no plans to create another (or competing) club, it was perfect to put it to use as a Facebook group This trip is the 1st time I created an event in that group, and invited some friends and customers of the shop.
